Okayyyy Dante and Daccapri. Where to fucking start? (oc notes undercut)

Already breezed over the general gist of how they meet but let's run it back:

Direct descendant of some important demon that inherited all of their predecessor's problems

Left with almost zero knowledge aside from hearsay about said demon

Lack of a proper childhood making way for an insanely rough and troubled upbringing

Resentful of paternal figure. Reverent of maternal figure.

Daccapri also uses an alias when dealing with human affairs

She first approaches his office under the guise of merely being a mentee of Morrison and helps deal with bills

so its very "on a need to know basis" and they just never discuss anything bc they don’t think the other person needs to know

How nice of him to make her a partner in his business that just barely pulls in enough to break even every year. ah so kind! so charitable! so thoughtful!

Dante definitely finds out she’s part devil after he meets Lucia and she’s like "hey so I need your help finding Arius' daughter" and he’s like “haha ok sure what’s she look like?” And it’s like ahhh my hot sexy assistant is the daughter of a megalomaniac sorcerer hellbent on resurrecting an ancient demon and may or may not be planning to do the same thing. But in his defense he did suspect something was up, just not that specifically.

She could fight him, but it'd give away her identity which is no bueno

so instead she just gets black out drunk and smokes cigars! yayyy we love healthy coping mechanisms (girl dinner!)

He doesn't really have a reaction other than like a momentary "aw" when Abernathy begins dressing more masculine cause it means no more little black dress

Erm they could be a power couple if they actually spoke about their feelings but that’s an insanely rare occurrence for both of them ☝️🤓

Which is ultimately why she ends up hanging around Nero. The emotional maturity arc is a very grounding experience and one necessary for a stable and healthy relationship platonic or otherwise.

i also think that nero may indulge in her violent tendencies a bit more than dante bc she targets corrupt old white men and nero thinks thats super punk rock (it makes his fat wife wet as hell that daccapri is so committed to their family that she would act crazy. and that gets him going too)

New Ideas for HOTD Alicent Fashion pt.2

So technically the last one I did for Alicent was apart of a Rhaenyra one, but for continuity sake this is my second outfit redesign for a younger Queen Alicent Hightower.

The dress in question we’re changing is one that will be changed in both scenes it’s worn. One will be a new dress entirely but the other will be just mentally recreating it to look more like the concept art.

The scenes are the dismissal of her father as Hand & The confrontation between she and Rhaenyra about the rumor that had her father dismissed:

I actually love this❤️❤️❤️ it’s just missing a little something, so when comparing these two pics:

If you notice these look exactly the same, except the black is darker, perhaps a velvet, the gold embroidery is more in the form of a design and brighter. The necklace is also more regal looking, bigger than the ones we saw her wear in her girlhood as a noble Lady. Those are the things they should’ve kept for the design of the dress in this scene, she’d look more like an actual Targaryen royal of the time. No offense but the dress that made the cut is kinda bland in tone.

The hair as well, she went for a jeweled hairnet to back to her girlhood hairstyles, precisely why I wish they would’ve kept the braided jeweled crown. It makes her seem more mature (despite her not being but jewelry can be a mask just as much as makeup sometimes) and more royal. She could even still keep it in this half held up hairdo just with the jeweled braided crown/twist added into it:

And the last thing about it the to want to say, the cape would’ve been awesome to see and it would’ve fit the scene. It was raining and she had a man carrying an umbrella for her, I think she’d have that cool ass cape too. Again makes her look more regal, more queen like, more mature.

The next time she wears it that I’d like to change, when she confronted Rhaenyra. A tense scene.

However at this point in time is when she is the most conflicted between her marriage to her husband and her “duty” to her house. I feel she’d reflect that in a representation of both houses. More so red, almost as if adding green was an afterthought, bc I rather think it would be a last minute decision for Alicent to add a green sash or piece of fabric to her usually Targaryen adoption in appearance. A way to feel close to her father by wearing the colors of the house she was born from (just like I headcanon she wore blue as a child to feel close to her mother; Helena Cuy, look it up where I go on a whole rant).

That in mind, imagine something similar to this:

The green being held in place at her neck, Targaryen dragon scales but in gold (perhaps a subtle nod toward Sunfyre/Aegon), it comes to wrap around her waist like a belt, tied at one side the remainder of the green fabric falls free on her left side of her hips down side by side the red dress. Also from the neckline, a half cape of green coming to cover her right side, thin gold chains reaching out from the neckline to hide beneath the half cape.

The red dress underneath would suit the summer climate/warmer climate of the time in the Red Keep, it’s just the right shade of Targaryen red, not to mention the red dress isn’t what really makes the dress but really what is meant to catch ur eye is that she’s wearing green for the first time in a long time. It meant to be hinting at her internal battles. Ofc her cleavage wouldn’t be exposed as depicted so it’s have a higher neckline, perhaps some simple gold and/or black embroidery to enhance it a bit.

Her hair would be something else to consider, thinking back to how we want it to be more mature and queen like. So perhaps a head peace or a jeweled net?

A mixture of these two would suffice:

The first picture is my favorite one and the main inspo for how I’d have done her hair, the pearls, the way her hair is twisted at the top with her bun being kept nice and beautiful in a net. The only thing I’d add from the second photo is the gold lace around the edges of the net, as well as the braid surrounding that as a whole. I’d also take the bands and add them loosely to the bottom part of her hair left down.

As for jewelry, they could’ve taken inspo from actual royal jewels. Something like this for Alicent:

Like I said the look starting originally as her traditional Targaryen Queen attire, with her Hightower symbolism added as an afterthought. Some small pearls could be added between diamond to go more with the pearls in her hair (although I think I might see some pearls in there but I might be dumb).

As for the earrings they could be something like this:

Again incorporating pearls into them or straight up replacing the diamonds entirely.

It’s just Queenly. It’s appeasing to the eyes. And it’s what I expect people to design royal fashion as to look like in period/historical dramas when you’ve proven yourself not concerned with accuracy or if it is a style fantasy gown.

This is where I think narrative gets twisted because Alicent is supposed to be this victim with no agency. The true of the matter is Alicent has as much agency if not more than Rhaenrya. The problem is she does not weld it in a way that makes her life better she is using to make Rhaenrya worse. Let’s get this straight, she has seen the way Rhaenrya uses her power to find happiness in her family. Alicent instead of doing the same go on continuous path leaning into the systems that are making her unhappy then blaming Rhaenyra for her unhappiness.

Can't find the post this ask is probs referring to, so I'm winging it.

Part of Alicent's problem is that she can't actually do the exact same thing Rhaenyra is doing to foster a loving family bc she has no refuge away from Otto and even from Viserys nor has authority over Viserys. As well as her upbringing under Otto and the Faith and developing an identity with both of these things as the ultimate authority on earth, and I mean the lost intimate kind of "authority". (And of course, she is in a society as one that's simply very competitive between claimants of resources) Particularly what we can clean from the show. She still has issues practicing agency and power under all those locks as much as other queens. The show however, goes overboard and makes it a lot easier for us to lol askance at Rhaenyra for not having (or actively trying to find compromise and not totally losing her self) a psychological response to those pressures that they amped up for Alicent, all for making her much more sympathetic. Let women have reasonable arcs of self-advancement in lieu of societal limits please and thank you, HotD.

But enough with the summaries. How does Alicent have critical differences in how she can make her own happiness? Like I said, she has no place of refuge like Dragonstone and her husband has authority over her, rather than Rhaenyra having (even if nominal) over Laenor. She also, yes, has no personal symbol or material device for power and agency like a dragon that Rhaenyra does to (mentally) explore her avenues of escape nor a magical connection that transcends political limitations that could act as a sort of psychological refuge. She is not a mother to an heir despite being queen as Rhaenyra technically is. Her grandfather, while part of her source for power or line of persuasion over Viserys-- since Viserys has always valued keeping up at least the appearance of a gracious king who listens to his councillors and respects the power of Oldtown/the Faith for his own family's sake, what with the history there--Otto is also someone who'd and we saw have a strong influence over how she'd raise her kids since he married her off to Viserys in the first place to get those heirs and he has his own independent position in the council. They actually have a weird dependence on each other bc he does become more powerful with her as Queen and mother to the kings sons--yes when it comes to influencing Viserys and practicing power over the court. But Otto at least has his own "thing" at court and at large. A critical element to how Rhaenyra was able to be as content as she was with Harwin and Daemon in the book/Daemon in the show was that she had her own place and with Daemon a husband with a competitive position. Rhaenyra's own resilience and will was companion and stimulant to that.

Mind you, it's not IMPOSSIBLE for Alicent to foster a court and siblings who are against Rhaenyra, but I wanted to be fair.

I forgot to post that I drew Needles! You can't tell, I haven't made the HC doodles comprehensive yet, but hisbneedles hide under his skin and eject when needed, like those spike traps but millions of needles!

He's def a natural redhead to me, but bleached it a lot before becoming an avatar

Technically, this would only be his human disguise thing. Full eldritch is reserved for attacking ppl and defense, which is rarer than attacking people, and in that form he's all lanky with all his needles out all the time like a fucked up longhorse and pincushion had a baby and it got possessed

He just has no sense of pain most of the time, at least related to intrinsic issues. Getting stabbed or shot hurts, but when his bones constantly break as Eldritch Needles or when his limbs fall off (like Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas) he doesn't feel all the pain, just a tinge or a pinch

Can remove his needles from his skin, but their 'slot' stays open until he puts them back or replaces them (like shark teeth, he grows them but can also swap them out for found ones) and he uses that to sew himself back together as needed

Lots of piercings, most home-done. Really only his lobe and one of three cartilage rings is professional, he did the rest as an angsty teen for fun

Was turned as a late teen/in his early twenties, and therefore his disguise stays looking that age because that's the only way he really remembers who he is and what he looked like. Eldritch Needles is just a fucked up skinsuit really, a puppet for what he needs to do, and Needles himself can't remember or guess what he would look like by now (bones, probably, with his luck, but he was taken as an avatar/eldritch in the 90s/early 2000s so realistically only around 40-50 or so)

Got in a ton of accidents as a kid, always was and always is banged up somehow

Flashes his needles and puffs up on instinct when things piss him off, has to stop himself from doing it around people

A gifted kid for the institute who ended up being neglected outside of schoolwork and what he could do (projection?)

Glitters in the sunlight even with the needles put away. Its just bcs he's got so much metal in him and the sunlight catches the slots weird enough to glint briefly

The jacket reacts the same way his hair and needles do, like an external organ, but it's only due to it being part of his avatar influence shit and its not actually a part of him. It goes dormant when removed or unwanted

Like a hedgehog hair-wise, it's harmless and like regular hair until it's Needle Time (TM)

Easily offended/angered, as seen in the 911 call, and likes to fuck with people. I'd guess older sibling if he had any, but the kind where you matured too fast and then slowed your roll so late you were the immature one (projecting)

Likes to be colorful but in a dull way. Washed out colors just suit him better in his opinion and let him express himself without drawing attention to himself and the fact he's not quite human anymore

Gap teeth <3 Wanted to get braces as a teen but didn't, still pissed about it because now he can't and it doesn't matter since hes not human anymore anyways. slowly learning to like the gap when his angel fangs don't get stuck in em

A parallel of both Nikola and Michael, kind of. He's got little bits that Norris, Chester and Augustus would recognize if they ever met him, like his speech pattern and penchant for never giving straight answers, but he's got his own thing going on more than the parallels ever could be.

so #1 is our beloved roy mustang.... i dont even know if i could concisely explain why i love him so much and why he had such an impact on me because any attempt would cause me to dissolve into hysterics. i think he is genuinely one of the most interesting and well written characters of all time. his party boy womanizer persona being used to mask his political and tactical brilliance makes me feel insane. his guilt and rage make me foam at the mouth. the way he conceives of his purpose and duty to the people he cares about and the world makes me bark like a dog. i think he was made in a lab specifically for me and he's rare because hes a character who i feel is brilliantly written on a technical level but also is someone i would love if they were real. he is my honey bunch sugar plum pumpyumpyumpkin. i have to stop now or ill descend into madness

next lets give it to miss alicent hightower from house of the dragon........ *crowd boos*. THE SHOW!!!!!! specifically. idk anything about fire & blood. i have owned it for years and never opened it. anyway she is probably my favorite woman character of all time. which is crazy bc shes only been around for a few years and like she really doesnt even do anything crazy. but something about her is like lightning in a bottle to me. i think she is a really interesting and well written exploration of how women are incentivized and manipulated into buying into patriarchal hierarchy and gender roles for their own self-preservation, and i think that is a really important character to exist right now even if like 98% of people dont understand her at all and just write her off as an evil bitch. well shes MY EVIL BITCH and also she was A CHILD BRIDE!?!?!?! anyway. i love her daddy issues. i love her toxic yuri jealousy. i love her self-soothing religious fervor. i love how she both loves but mostly hates her children. i love her indigence. i love her big sad pathetic brown eyes. Reading your fic a poison tree, my brain got inspired on its own and went and created a half-baked AU where Baelon (Viserys' son) survived instead— but I'll probably never write it because it's just vagueness and a lot of Vibes™.

I really like your Oldgon, his characterization, the cracks forming in the Targ family as seen through Alyssa's eyes (also the cracks in her realizing she can't hold positions of power in her own right because she's a girl), things simmering and simmering beneath the surface (gods, it's gonna boil soon) and!!!! The melancholy!! The haunting!!!! Elinor!!!! Like, she got “fridged” in the technical sense but it doesn't feel like it at all, because her life and her death mattered to Oldgon and Alyssa (even if she's an absence in the latter's life). She's so vibrant and alive and so human in all the snippets we get of her, it's beautiful. I love her to bits and pieces, you understand.

Ehhhh, some nonsense and questions(?) concerning the half-baked brainchild of mine:

My Baelon, I guess, is the epitome of Survivor's Guilt™. He finds out what happened to Aemma and feels horrible about it. If it weren't for him, his mother wouldn't have died. But it was his father who allowed the maester to carve Aemma open, and Baelon finds out somehow, and he's extremely fucking not happy about it.

The relationship between father and son deteriorating? Potentially? Like, Viserys played favorites and doted on Baelon at the expense of all his other children (Rhaenyra also has complicated feelings about her father and brother because oof), Baelon was so loved, and then the boy has this revelation and is horrified by both his existence and his father's repeated choice to make Aemma go through pregnancies and finally her death. I don't think that's a break that can't be repaired.

Maybe it'll manifest outwardly. Baelon might push and question why, why Viserys did what he did. How he could possibly choose to do it. Dunno how Viserys will react to that but I'm guessing Not Well. Maybe this is the Their Relationship Fucking Crumbles route. Maybe Baelon doesn't dare to ask but simmers in silence. Viserys keeps on being blind but Baelon...

Survivor's guilt. He starts to feel like he has to justify himself, justify his existence, make his mother's death “worth it”. If he can't be good, can't be excellent, can't make anybody's life better, then he wasn't worth his mother's death.

Sickly child. Overworks himself.

More of a scholarly type (ngl, parts of Oldgon really influenced this boy, another reason why I won't write this bc it'll end up a rip-off of a poison tree in many regards??? 😭)

(Viserys still marries Alicent bc Gotta Have Backup Heirs In Case The Sickly Prince Drops Dead™, and keeps having kids with her bc he's, uh, Viserys™, with all that entails.)

Maybe this makes this OC Baelon a little too perfect, but screw it I'm here to be cringe and have a good time so he “has enough room in his heart to love many people”

So he chooses to love Rhaenyra, even if their relationship might or might not end up really complicated. She loves and resents him in equal measure because he was part of the cause of their mother's death and their father's affection shifted from her onto him instead of being shared equally— but he's also the last remaining fragment of her mother. I don't know how this web of complication will manifest in Rhaenyra and how she interacts with him, but he wants to have a closer relationship with his sister.

Back when Viserys still doted on him (if their relationship eventually crumbles), Baelon felt guilty towards Alicent and her children as well. If he'd been born healthy, if he'd just been better, there would be no need for spares. No children Viserys would sire just to ignore.

It's just nonsense, haha. I haven't thought about the politics, or anything else, if there's to be a ship I actually kinda ship Baelon with Aemond, ridiculous as it sounds? Dunno how that'd work. Dunno how things will turn out. One boy trying to reach out to the people around him again and again and again.

(I wonder what kind of relationship Baelon would have with Oldgon and Alyssa [and Elinor and Jeyne] if there were to be a crossover between the AUs...)

Oh my gosh, what a great message!!! I’m spiritually kissing you on the mouth! I’m so glad you don’t think I fridged Elinor too much, that’s honestly one of the biggest things I’ve wrestled with when it comes to this fic, since one of my first thoughts was about killing her off. I wanted someone to haunt the narrative in every way!

I actually do really hope you write your fic. I fully support more nerdy flop male Targaryens, the world needs more of them! I do think there’s a lot of room to explore the pushes and pulls of westerosi masculinity, especially those who fail in one or more area, and this goes double for heirs and kings who get even more pressure. And Oldgon is far from the only scholarly Targaryen dude, I actually had some of Daeron the Good in mind when I wrote him, since he was a bit of a nerd who dearly loved his wife, so feel free to run with your Baelon. I also don’t feel like it would be much of a ripoff because a big portion of Oldgon’s personality comes from being the third son, the spare spare, and being shipped off to Oldtown fairly young, while this Baelon would be fairly under a microscope as the heir to the throne. Like, I have Oldgon as pretty introverted as a kid, and he really only grows out of his shell as he gets older and has the support of Vaegon and Lorent at the Citadel, and I think Baelon might have the opposite reaction as the eldest son of the king under the scrutiny of the court, especially if he’s a gentle soul like Oldgon, I could see this Baelon becoming even more shy and reticent, if that makes sense?

I actually do think that Viserys probably would have remarried even if Baelon had lived, he married Alicent for fairly personal (and selfish considering it wasn’t a great political) match and didn’t regard her kids as his heirs in canon anyway. And if Baelon is sickly from infancy, it would make sense to try and back him up with more brothers. I think both Rhaenyra and the Green kids would be different in this AU, since Rhaenyra is never made heiress and has less pressure on her overall, and Aegon II is probably as happy as a clam to be the second son who can wander off. Aemond is probably still seething about something even in this AU. Big middle child energy. (The Aemond/Baelon thing actually does sound interesting bc it could be a bit of an inversion of Viserys and Daemon but with waaaay more bitterness. Sexy!) I think the big question would be if Baelon marries Rhaenyra, Helaena, or Laena, since all are pretty strong candidates in their own ways. (If you went with Rhaenyra, even more drama there, but I think Laena could be immensely fun tbh, especially if Viserys decides to let Rhaenyra still have some sort of choice in her husband.)

And on how Oldgon would feel about a nephew that’s a lot like him, I think he’d actually be really happy with that! He loves the nephews he has (obviously, lol) but none of them are really a ton like him. And I think he would relate a lot to Baelon struggling to live up to the pressures of the path set before him. I think Alyssa would alternate between being extremely jealous and extremely fond of Baelon. She’s very jealous of her dad’s attention, and scholarly boy who her dad is thrilled to have around would probably be her worst nightmare, but she would enjoy having another kid around with similar interests that isn’t occasionally engaging in psychological warfare against her. (And bonus points for the shared dead moms!)

If he names a girl Jacaerys his heir before Rhaenyra has even attempted having a second child, there’s gonna be questions like “what are we dornish or something” that he’s going to have to deal with.

If you’re sitting here thinking “both of those options sound like a mess” that’s because it is a mess :) “No female line can inherit” and Rhaenyra being named over Daemon cannot exist in the same world because according to GC 101, an uncle comes before a cousin and a male cousin comes before a daughter, every single goddamn time. Viserys doesn’t clarify his position here bc his position is “my brother is annoying as shit and i feel guilty that i left my daughter without a mother the way i was left without a mother” and that’s not like, a law, it’s a vibe. he then continues not clarifying after remarrying, having a son, AND naming that fucking son Aegon. But if Rhaenyra also has a firstborn daughter, it's not as easy for Viserys to just kinda "aw shucks" and mumble his way out of the room.

I also genuinely don't know what Rhaenyra would do. She's not fighting for absolute primogeniture (though she would have been in a better position if she had decided to fight for it). What she's fighting for is her father's right to name her as heir and her own right to be named as heir. It's about her situation specifically which was complicated when she was named and became more complicated after her brothers were born; there's precedent in story that someone can just name their heir and bypass the whole ~structure~ if there's not a clear line of inheritance, like Jeyne Arryn bypassing her first cousin (because he attempted to usurp her) for her fourth cousin (because he was loyal) and the Iron Throne backing up Jeyne's decision, and this is clearly how Rhaenyra is treating her own ascension. Rhaenyra is the exception the same way Targaryen incest is the exception to the Faith.

When the question of women inheriting over brothers comes up, she sides against absolute primogeniture because Corlys advises her to do so - and I like him but I am once again saying that Corlys is to blame for almost all of the dumb shit inheritance decisions that Rhaenyra makes, because Rhaenyra defaults to his "wisdom" as her advisor. Obviously Rhaenyra is incredibly short sighted in both placing too many unhatched eggs in Corlys' shit ass basket as well as treating her own ascension as somehow different than women inheriting over men, but you can kinda see the argument she's going for, she's just doing it badly (because she has bad advisors). She's saying her ascension was special because of the lack of heirs at the time and that you can't unname the Crown Princess, and she's very clearly backing away from setting any sort of precedent regarding literally anything else. She's amazingly similar to her father in that way; conflict averse but with a terrifying temper. And like I said up top, a girl Jacaerys forces both Rhaenyra and Viserys to finally look at the mess they, the Hightowers, and Jaehaerys made of the line of succession and fix it.

To start with I am so so so incredibly normal about both of them. I have been a fan of them since day one and have only grown to love them more over time. I literally spend a huge chunk of every splatfest just watching them perform on loop and taking sooooo many screenshots. There are currently 1686 images in my Nintendo Switch Online folder in my gallery and most of them are of Pearl and Marina. I cry if I think too hard about the ending of Octo Expansion. One of the absolute fastest ways to cheer me up is to show me their performances (have literally gone from absolutely miserable to beaming in less than ten minutes this way). It's honestly kind of pathetic!

PEARL HOUZUKI MY BELOVED. She is SO funny and such a brilliant character. She is such a great performer as well??? Like!! She knows how to work a crowd!! She's got that insane confidence, and rightly so. Genuinely I love her so much. She's brash and loud and chaotic but also incredibly sweet and genuine when she needs/wants to be. I love the concepts that go into her as a character and her abilities so much - having "yell at problem" be a viable and effective method of attack in her arsenal that allows her to save the world is hilarious and brilliant. I would go into battle for her. The people that """fix""" her design can die by my blade (for legal reasons this is a joke and not an actual threat).

Anyway also I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate Rina Itou's vocal performance because while we talk a lot about Alice Peralta's vocals as Marina (and rightly so - she's incredible!!), I barely ever see anyone talk about Pearl's vocals?? Rina Itou is an amazing vocalist with a marvelously distinctive style that she adapts to work for the character, delivering absolutely beautiful and technically stunning vocal performances in singing and rapping. There is something very intresting about how the audience /mainly greens see Alicent + Viserys vs Helaena + Aegon, Alys + Aemond. A few days ago someone drew Alicent and Viserys (Alicent as some sort of playboy bunny --which yes, is in poor taste), BUT no one bats an eye when people draw Helaegon or Alysmond. No one cares when they even draw Helaena and Aegon having sex, Helaegon is not a ''fail marriage'' Helaena is a victim of marital rape in both canons. In Fire and Blood she was 13 years old, Aegon was 15-- BUT, we have 2 other men that had more sense than getting their 13-year-old wives pregnant - one of them being Jaehaerys I - who was also 15; so there is no excuse for what Aegon did. In the show it's clear as day she is a victim of rape, just like Alicent; Only that her situation is worse - she doesn't like to be touched much + Aegon comes drunk. Or even jokes how Aegon was ''jealous'' of her dancing with Jace and they were going to make Maelor that night.... the same with Alysmond - Alys' entire family was killed, people she knew, boys she could have nursed herself. She was taken to warm his bed. Her doing what she needs to survive=loving him. There is nothing romantic about it, I don't even know how people think that.

A 15 year old is not a "man"--neither in this world or in our real world reality, historically or presently. Still, Aegon was both the elder and socially more powerful of the 2, and unlike Dany-Irri, show!him never takes it on himself to make sure she's comfortable, her understanidng, establishing or gettign to know where her head's at, knoiwng boundaries or what-have-you, regardless of their ages. It was quite clear he just couldn't be bothered.

Aegon forces himself on Helaena, and there's a more subtle reason to think so than ages, I think, and perhaps a different "type" of "force" but not really: due to the pretext his his deliberate and consistent inebriation allows him. It's just a gesture of duty performance/getting his mother and grandfather off his back and his way of being defiant against them (I'll do this my way, half-assed), and a way to get even more feeling of control bc it forces Helaena to have to modify her behavior around his actions while he just gets to thrust and technically still do the "duty" that is being prioritized over safety here by the older adults. He may think he's suffering, but it's certainly more of a win for him than for Helaena, at the very least psychologically--he can get his kicks and sense of control over is sister-wife but not really have to see her as sex by itself is a prime way for men to practice their domination over women, esp with her being his sister and he possibly using sex to reemphasize the traditional chain of matrimony. I once mentioned that people ship incestually or like incest that wasn't graphic or terrifying at whatever point bc it's about having a strong bond or an attempt at one. Well, Aegon is maybe attempting a "strong bond" but not one of intimacy but control (dark side of the coin). Therefore, he's not ever going to be inclined to care about Helaena, apart from him being genuinely unatracted to her enough to essentially reverse paperbag her.

Perhaps Alicent has protested or tried to, or maybe she hasn't and maybe even both her and Otto had stank faces when they heard what Aegon usually does--they are most likely not going to really stop him or use paltry persuasion without getting to the root of the issue bc they don't really want to jeapordize their central goals. And/or in the case of Alicent, she's conflicted bc of the traditional morals surrounding marital property rights of a man over a woman vs she has never been respected by any of her kids or Otto for them to be persuaded much by her bc she is a woman and has done some weird shit to/about them (except maybe Aemond and Daeron) vs she does try to bring it up and castigate Aegon, but otto gets in her way or Aegon straight up ignores her or even Helaena interrupts wanting "peace".

I certainly this should be the logical implication of what was written in the show. God, what could have been writing wise...anyway.

Maybe this is still a controversial take (honestly, i don't know why) but Condal and Co are far worse than D&D and deserve a huge backlash. They shouldn't even be in the same sentence. D&D were actually good at adapting and while the later seasons weren't that great in many aspects, they are still superior to s2 of HotD by far. Maybe even to s1. However, five years later a big chunk of the fandom is obsessively hating on D&D, while praising Condal & co. Journalists, youtubers... I'm sorry, but the character assassination of Alicent and even Aemond are far worse than what happened to, let's say, Daenerys (i never saw it as a character assassination anyway, just a result of the shortened seasons and bad pacing). Also, the dialogues in hotd s2 are clunky and forced, the characters inconsistent, the plotholes jarring, even the technical aspects are not that great ... The list is endless, really. And Condal & co are deeply biased, unprofessional and dare I say, not so talented at all. Therefore, I just don't understand how the same people who were sh*tting on GoT and d&d are happy with the pile of c*ap that HotD s2 turned out to be.

no..........i think you're right. d&d made many mistakes and even the good seasons of asoiaf weren't "perfect" but they were excellent television because they were aces at captatio benevolentiae. they knew how to arrest your attention and once they had it, you couldn't look away. think of how so many people were hooked after just watching the pilot of GoT. ending the pilot with the shocking revelation of twincest and the cliffhanger of bran's fall was a stroke of genius.

not just bc it was "shocking" and "titillating", but they had good instincts for how to structure a season and how to sprinkle the action throughout to make it engaging. the pacing of the early seasons was on point! think of how tyrion gets arrested at the end of ep 4, robert dying, ned's execution, dany hatching her eggs to end S1.

and, for the love of god, the plot had STAKES. GoT lived by the idiom "fuck around and find out". mistakes were punished. what characters did mattered. when people died, it had an impact.

ofc that later on they introduced too many looney tunes plots and it was obvious they didn't know what to do once they ran out of written material. they didn't know what to do with main POV characters: arya, jon, bran. honestly, it's their love of cersei that was their prevailing grace during the last seasons, because they gave her the best possible ending and, as a cersei stan, i couldn't be, you know, MAD mad.

which makes me think that perhaps they would have adapted the dance of the dragons in a more satisfying manner. as both rhaenyra and alicent are a little cersei-coded in their own way, i imagine D&D could have softened them without completely declawing them or making them straight-up boring, as that was one of the few female archetypes for which they could produce some decent writing

starting from ace, I feel like he'd either use bow or polearm because as seen in the og alice in wonderland movie, all of the trump soldiers use some sort of lance(?), but I'm going with bow because I feel like it matches his vibes the most. rust would fit his overall visual especially with his dorm uniform (bc I am not about to teyvat-ivy their outfits I Am Not The Art Archon).

if we’re talking about kits/skill set, I picture him having an anemo vision (dead friend aside and purely by aesthetic bc we dont know much abt his past/um/I will not kill deuce) and being an off-field dmg dealer sort of like yelan and his skill being an enemy aggro that also do a mini swirl like mona’s/faruzan’s. so a sub dps maybe.

then we go to deuce, I want to say he’s a catalyst like heizou that punches his enemies like he got a personal grudge but listen to me : deuce with a claymore. deuce just. swinging that shit around and beating the mobs to death. I mean I can picture him being a catalyst that do normal, sort of calm attack until you make him do his charged attack and it’s a rage-filled uppercut sort of but. claymore deuce. deuce wielding song of broken pines.

now about the kit, I can’t see him with any other vision than hydro and I’m torn between him being an elemental dmg dealer with parry gimmick like beidou or just a full blown physical dps. while hydro isn’t a good element to do physical reaction, at the same time I also see him being able to deal some sort of decent physical dmg so I’m really conflicted about what his kit is going to be like. but I DO see that he’s going to be the type thats going to scale off of hp like zhongli or nilou.

next is trey, I see him as somewhere between sword or polearm, but then I decided on polearm because imagine trey with those baker hand swinging a polearm around. also he reminds me of thoma for some reason (househusband material, serving powerful/important figure??). Also he’d look good wielding skyward spine, no?

I cant decide on his vision but I can see him being dendro, mainly bc he’s green and also that the whole reaction with dendro kinda(?) fits his unique magic ig. Which means he’d probably be both a healer and em support/buffer. I think he’d have kits similar to shenhe and bennett where he increases dmg with his skill while he heals and buffs em/atk with his burst and doing small continuous dmg.

cater is kind of hard for me to picture in this setting. like ace I do think that bow fits his vibe, but so does polearm and sword. I literally cannot decide. I wanted him to be like childe where he wields one weapon and change stance during skill, but I already have different idea for his skill that would match his um better so. I ended up going with polearm after seeing mika with that crossbow

just like his weapon, I cannot decide on a vision for him. it’s either cryo or electro, based on his personality alone. he reminds me of fischl in a weird way. kit wise I think he’s going to summon his clone for his skill that function more as totems like yae’s that also do aggro (it is a bit funny imagining like 3 caters ganging up on a mob in game tho lmao). I think it wont do that much damage but it’ll be a consistent element applicator. as for his burst I really have no idea except maybe it’ll be like gorou where he’ll summon just 1 copy/totem that follows the character and also buffing/dealing damage alongside them(?)

now riddle, we can already tell that this boy is a full blown catalyst dps. I’m sure he can wield a sword/polearm just fine but catalyst just seems to fit his vibe the most. blackliff agate would look sick on him even if it’s not a 5 star weapon.

and yeah he’s definitely pyro. his kit would also be like yanfei and klee mainly bc I cannot think of a way to integrate his unique magic completely (zhongli’s burst is literally stunning the mob and his um is more close to taking the vision away from his enemy teyvat-wise). so he’d be a normal+charged atk focused dps. like yanfei he’d have this point(?) thingy(???) on his back everytime he do normal attack and if he do charge attack with them (max 4) he’d do big damage. I think his skill would have that pyro/elemental res effect while dealing damage and I think it would be cool if his burst is a one-shot pyro hit that deals lots of dmg like hu-tao’s while also giving him the maximum amount of point for charge attack.
